Rounding out 2016 the right way.

More The Smith Street Band More The Smith Street Band

We may be at the back end of 2016, but Melbourne rockers The Smith Street Band are showing no signs of slowing down, today announcing a new run of Aussie headline shows as well as a brand new single and video.

Having spent the majority of this year playing gigs across the world in places such as the US, UK and Europe, the quartet return home towards the end of this month to play in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, with some huge special guests that include The Nation Blue, Grim Rhythm, Forevr and a special one-off appearance by High Tension.

Meanwhile new track, Death To The Lads, is the first taste of what fans can expect from the band's fourth LP to be released in early 2017.

Recorded in September at San Francisco's Panoramic House studios, frontman Wil Wagner says the song is "mainly about growing up and changing" and "admitting we make mistakes and trying to improve ourselves".

The video is also arguably the group's best as it features The Smith Street Band's mothers (yes, mothers) as they journey through the suburbs in a tour van before they hit the stage at The Reverence Hotel.

"It was a great chance to thank and appreciate the people who have done more for us than anyone, our families," Wagner says of the video.

"We basically wanted our mums to get to be rock stars for the day and get some credit for helping us get this far."
