The series was not included in ABC's 2020 programming earlier this month, however Dylan Alcott and Linda Marigliano told The Music at yesterday's ARIA Awards that they are hopeful for a third season.

"It's like going to work with one of your best mates. It's a privilege and we love it," Alcott said.

"We're really confident and hopefully that'll come back next year."

Marigliano added. "Nothing in stone yet, but I think everyone wants the show back.

ABC Head of Entertainment Michael Carrington said last week that the broadcaster "will find a way to bring The Set back".

"Even the heads at ABC want it back as well. They love it," Alcott said.

"Australian musicians deserve that show."

In its two season-run The Set featured live performances from the likes of Amy Shark, The Teskey Brothers, The Presets, Vera Blue and Ball Park Music.
