Rumours that The Monkees will be heading to Australia in the near future have proven to be true with confirmation today that the iconic US outfit will hit the country for a headline tour this December. 

On the back of their new album, Good Times!, the band will perform two shows in Christchurch and Auckland before taking their 50th anniversary tour to Brisbane, Tweed Heads, Hobart, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. 

The show will feature all of The Monkees' hits, plus an intimate acoustic set and solo spots for both Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork.

Pre-sale tickets for all shows go on sale tomorrow between 9am-5pm, before going on sale to the general public from 9am this Thursday.
