Power pop fans around the country are stoked.
If you're upset by a distinct lack of genius power pop if your life, then here is one tour that will certainly scratch your pronounced musical itch as two masters of the genre come together for some Aussie dates early in the New Year.
Ken Stringfellow has been a mainstay on the indie rock scene since his band The Posies first came to public prominence back in the late 1980s. That band have made some devastatingly brilliant power pop over the years and continue to power on, but Stringfellow's kept busy with other projects as well. He was a member of Big Star from the early 90s up to Alex Chilton's sad passing and he will be out here as a part of the Big Star's Third event for Sydney Festival.
Chris Stamey is best known as one of the initial singers and songwriters in the incredibly underrated power-pop master The dBs, but has also worked alongside the likes of Yo La Tengo, Ryan Adams and Michael Stipe. He's also here for the Big Star tribute and will join Stringfellow for shows that are going to be such a treat for fans of the power pop genre.
