Stephen MerchantEmmy, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning co-creator of The Office and Extras, Stephen Merchant, has announced his first comedy tour of Australia!
The show is called Stephen Merchant Live: Hello Ladies, and will take place across four big dates in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this December.
Merchant is best known for his absolutely hilarious collaborations with fellow funnyman Ricky Gervais, but began his comedy career in stand-up and radio.
“Most people don't realise that I was a stand-up comedian before I met Ricky Gervais and his coat-tails,” he says.
“Life can be lonely as a TV writer so this tour is a great opportunity for me to get out there and meet my fans. And make at least one of them my wife.”
He has appeared in films such as Hall Pass (with Owen Wilson) and Tooth Fairy (with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) with cameo gigs in Hot Fuzz and Run Fat Boy Run. Alongside Gervais and Karl Pilkington, Merchant holds the Guinness World Record for the most downloaded Internet show of all time, with an insane 280,000,000 downloads - subsequently made into the HBO animated series The Ricky Gervais Show.
