But they nearly lost the tune

More The Murlocs More The Murlocs

Geelong's loud-rocking five-piece The Murlocs have overcome adversity to release new single Space Cadet – a tune they could have quite easily lost in a robbery – also dropping four dates to welcome to single to the world.

The band were forced to go back to the drawing board when their laptop was stolen earlier this year, losing most of the recordings of their upcoming record, however, this tune was recovered by mixer Mikey Young due to a prior session at the desk.

Recorded by Stu McKenzie of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard fame, Space Cadet brags some sweet R&B guitar and distinct Murlocs vocals from frontman Ambrose Kenny-Smith, brimming with the reckless, spontaneity that fans have fallen in love with.

Have a watch of the new clip that accompanies Space Cadet, filmed by Jason Galea and Ben Jones in Victoria's Lake Corangamite.
