The Matches Frontman Calls Out TNT Series For Copying Artwork

St. Ranger vs. ‘Animal Kingdom’

Frontman of the recently rebooted LA punk rock outfit The Matches, Shawn Harris has called out US drama series Animal Kingdom over similarities between the cover of his latest solo record and the show’s promo poster.

Posting a comparison to Instagram, the eclectic vocalist tagged the image by saying the Animal Kingdom artwork was “biting” the St. Ranger “design pretty hard”, with both featuring LA palm trees on fire and similar colour schemes.

Inspired by Australian filmmaker David Michôd’s 2010 film of the same name, the pilot for the TNT series aired this week in the US, with Harris’ debut solo effort under the banner St. Ranger, Leaves LA, dropping back in February.

The Matches recently visited Australia on a whirlwind tour to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their breakthrough Decomposer album. Check out a review and gallrey of the Sydney show here.
