Blur replacements to play their own shows
The three big international acts brought in to replace Britpop legends Blur will play single, small sideshows in Australia later this month.
Swedish garage rockers The Hives, influential alt-metal lords Deftones and British indie supergroup Beady Eye, led by Oasis' Liam Gallagher were all brought in after the mysterious cancellation of one the festival's trumpeted “white whales” late last year, in an announcement that was looking to give punters more value for their ticket price.
In a surprising development, AJ Maddah has confirmed that all three bands will play intimate sideshows while in the country as well, with The Hives to play in Melbourne and Deftones and Beady Eye set for Sydney shows.
