The Grates To Headline Red Deer Festival

The Brisbane band play their first show in forever this September.

The first names for outer-Brisbane's boutique Red Deer Festival have been announced this morning, with the event posting its biggest and best line up to date.

The Grates have been awfully quiet of late – unless you visit their bustling bar and café on Brisbane's south side – so the chance to see their energetic and exciting live show happen all over again is incredibly enticing indeed. No idea whether or not they have new songs, but if they don't then the old ones will do us just fine for now.

Former frontman of The Beautiful Girls Mat McHugh brings his Separatista Sound System to the beautiful environs of Mt Samson for the 2013 Red Deer festival, a set that is bound to work beautifully in the surroundings that are offered up.

Melbourne rockers Kingswood have had a massive 12 months and will be bringing their revved up (pun 100 percent intended and if you don't like it you can sit on a tack) rock'n'roll to shake up the Brisbane faithful and then probably sink a few frosty ones afterwards.

The last of the big four headliners is another doozy; the mighty Chance Waters has been melting hearts with his unique indie hip hop for a while now and his inclusion on the bill just adds to the idea that this event is truly not to be missed.

There are a bunch of local acts involved as well, with Bobby Alu, Pigeon DJs, The Kite String Tangle, Sarah Howells, Bec Laughton, The Lyrical and Sneaky Picnic all announced this morning as well.

The BYO event takes place at Mt Samson from 9am on Saturday 7 September. Tickets are just $79 + bf and include camping or you can get VIP tickets for $199 + bf. They're available from the festival's website right now.
