There's a whole lot of shit going down with the Melbourne band.

More The Getaway Plan More The Getaway Plan

Big changes in the camp of Melbourne alt-rockers The Getaway Plan just keep on coming, with the band today announcing they have parted ways with original bassist Dave Anderson.

The band took to Facebook to announce a whole stack of news this afternoon, opening up with the news of Anderson's departure after close to a decade with the band.

“Dave Anderson and TGP have made the decision to part ways,” a statement on the band's Facebook begins. “Dave was an integral part of the growth of this band and we thank him dearly for everything that he's done. We wish him the best in all of his future endeavours. All is amicable between us all and we hope to remain friends forever.”

The band also announced that his replacement has been found already, with a longtime friend stepping into the role.

“Taking the reigns [sic] will be one of our best friends, Jase Clarke. We've known Jase for a long time and couldn't think of a more perfect human to welcome to the family. Jase has already brought so much new life to the party and we couldn't be more excited about our future with him.”

The band recently parted ways with UNFD, the management company and record label that was representing them, and spoke out about that at more length today.

“We are currently an independent band and we're loving every second of it. This is the first time in over 9 years that we have been in complete control of every aspect of the band and it feels truly awesome. We have no one to answer to but ourselves and we feel more resilient than ever before. This new release is completely self-funded and organised by us, and whilst the workload involved has been big, the rewarding feeling that comes with it has been even bigger. We have no idea where we see ourselves label wise in the future, but for now we are going to ride this wave and see where we end up.”

Also announced this afternoon is the imminent release of a new double-A-side single (Lovesick/Mirrors) and a tour in support of it. Dates are below.
