An unlikely pair of tour buddies will head Down Under.
British glam band The Darkness and iconic rocker Joan Jett will be touring our shores together this April.
The two vastly different acts will play four shows while they're here, with Jett to be joined by her band the Blackhearts. This will be the second Australian tour for The Darkness in twelve months, after they played a string of gigs here last May.
It's been a rocky road for The Darkness since they burst onto the scene back in 2003 with their debut album Permission To Land. Lead singer Justin Hawkins left the band in 2006 amid rumours of drug abuse and health problems. Several side projects were formed until the original four members reunited in 2011. Their latest LP Hot Cakes was released in 2012.
Joan Jett has been a stalwart of the industry since the mid 70s and has released countless records over the years, both solo and as a member of The Runaways. She formed her Blackhearts band in the early 80s. This will be her first appearance in Oz since 2010.
