Broad City, bitch; Broad Broad City, bitch
It might be a little belated, but Australia now has its own broadcast details for a local run of the Amy Poehler-produced incendiary new comedy Broad City, coming to Foxtel's The Comedy Channel next month.
Rising funnywomen Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson star in this truly excellent buddy comedy, which was developed from the pair's 2009-2011 successful web-series of the same name and concluded its first season in the US back in March.
Empowering without being preachy, intelligent without being pompous, and crass without being 2 Broke Girls, Broad City follows Ilana and Abbi as fictionalised versions of themselves, twentysomething BFFs just trying to make it work in the social sewer of modern New York city life.
With a regular guest cast that includes cult stand-up hero Hannibal Buress, ascendent comedian John Gemberling and The Office temp Chris Gethard -- as well as cameos from comedic royalty such as Poehler, Amy Sedaris, Rachel Dratch, Janeane Garofolo and Fred Armisen -- we heartily recommend getting on board when the show starts airing on The Comedy Channel on Wednesday, July 23.
