Big plans for 2016

More The Cat Empire More The Cat Empire

Melbourne ska/jazz luminaries The Cat Empire have double the news this Monday morning, unveiling the third single from their upcoming sixth record, Rising With The Sun, as well as a lengthy Australian tour.

This song's called Bulls and Felix Riebl explains it literally came to him in a dream.

"I woke up at the very edge of sleep. Almost, just before I woke up, there was a guy in there showing me a rhythm. It's very distinct. That song came straight from there.

"I think we run the risk of sounding pretentious to say that songs come in dreams, but sometimes they really quite literally just appear that way. That's a real gift."

With Rising With The Sun due for release on 4 March, the boys have slated in dates to showcase all their new material — starting with Sydney on 20 May. The tour will head to multiple dates across ACT, SA, VIC, QLD, WA and SA, with extra shows in the latter two states to be announced soon.

The band will also slip in appearances in India this month, Bluesfest and WOMADelaide in March, before heading to the UK in April, Canada, USA and South American in July and August and Europe in October.
