What a win.

Some may have considered it an impossible feat, but Melbourne jazz/ska outfit The Cat Empire have defied the odds and toppled Grammy Award-winning rap heavyweight Kendrick Lamar to take out the #1 spot on this week's ARIA Albums Chart.

The veteran band's seventh studio album, Rising With The Sun, proved too good for Lamar's surprise compilation offering, Untitled Unmastered, which placed at #3 just behind the Molly soundtrack coming in at second spot.

The placing marks The Cat Empire's second-ever top charting album, following on from Two Shoes which peaked at #1 in 2005.

The top five was rounded out by Adele's 25 and Hilltop HoodsDrinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung, who retained their respective positions of #4 and #5.

Aussie rapper Urthboy made good on top ten expectations with his new album, The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat coming in at #7, while Sydney pop-rock/punk band Tonight Alive's Limitless achieved massive success as it not only debuted at #6 in Australia, but it also cracked the top 40 of the UK Albums Chart

Following on from the tragic death of Aussie music legend Jon English this week, the late rocker's 2011 compilation album, Six Ribbons — The Ultimate Collection has stormed into the chart to place at #23.

Rounding out the album debut's this week is Miike Snow's III which comes in at #18.

The Singles Chart remained mostly unchanged as Lukas Graham's 7 Years maintained top spot, while Twenty One PilotsStressed Out switched from #2 to #3 with Hilltop Hoods' 1965, featuring Montaigne and Tom Thum.
