Aussie rockers The Buoys are back with a new single, and they’ll embark on a tour across the country this November and December.
The new track, Bitch, is a “beautiful and chaotic” reflection of what many women experience: being called a bitch for having an opinion.
Produced by ARIA Award-winner Chris Collins (Matt Corby) and mastered by George Georgiadi, Bitch is a special song for lead singer and guitarist Zoe Catterall. She said about the single, “I wrote this one with a good friend of mine, Alistair Hayes.
“That day I was dealing with the classic case of ‘they’ll call you a bitch cause it’s easier than taking accountability for their actions’ type scenario, and I was trying my best to stay positive, but on my way to the session I got a comfort food snack and had a very light car prang while doing so…
“I ate my hash browns and had a cry in the car park before heading to the session lol, and what resulted was this beautiful chaotic song about being called a bitch, which is obviously not a fun time, but I’m so glad the song is really fun in spite of that.”

Next month, The Buoys will perform at festivals across Europe before returning home this November. The tour begins at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel on Friday, 28 November. It continues at Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Saturday, 29 November, Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Thursday, 18 December, Sydney’s Manning Bar on Friday, 19 December, and Brisbane’s Crowbar on Saturday. 20 December.
You can find ticketing information on The Buoys’ website.
Bitch follows the release of The Buoys’ debut album, Lustre, released last year. The album debuted at #7 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and was named triple j’s feature album in July. Catterall commented on their upcoming tour, “Anyone who’s been to a Buoys show knows just how much we love playing live and touring.
“Nothing compares to playing our own shows; the atmosphere people create at Buoys shows is unlike any other. Our fans are the nicest, coolest people we’ve ever met. To be gearing up for a tour around a new release makes that all the more exciting! We can’t wait.”
