The Brightside Is Throwing A 'Pokemon Go' Social Club Party This Weekend

Socialising! I choose you!

Stalwart Brisbane venue The Brightside is getting on-board the full-steam Pokemon Go train with the announcement of a Pokemon Go Social Club party, angled at fans of the nascent geocaching app, this weekend.

Following a successful pub crawl in the city this past weekend that attracted more than 300 fans, The Brightside will welcome all aspirant Poke-trainers for an evening of themed cocktails, Pokemon card-game and Nintendo DS tables, custom membership badges for those who join the actual social club and — particularly enticingly, if Pokemon Go is the specific name of your Poke-game — making use of the venue's in-game status right next to a PokeStop by keeping Lures popped to keep you close by and catchin' Pokemans all night long. (This is actually a very sound business strategy.)

If you know what most of those words mean, then get along to The Brightside this Saturday, 16 July, for a night of Poke-themed madness replete with live performances from Earth CallerDeadlightsDaybreakers and Among The Ruined.

Meanwhile, the Pokemon Go craze continues unabated around the country — Melbourne threw a Pokemon Go Adventure Party this past weekend, and has events lined up at Beta Bar (22 July) and Brown Alley (2 September).

Additionally, if you're local to Sydney and looking for a fix, MMRS is hosting a Pokemon Party on Saturday 30 July, also featuring Poke-cocktails, game stations, Lures (between 10-11pm) and more, plus the Kings Cross Hotel will be welcoming Go players from 9pm on 5 August.

In the interim, if you're suffering from server issues, game freeze-ups or just general 'one that got away' malaise, cheer yourself up with the classic mash-up below.
