More The Black Keys More The Black Keys

Hours after being named as the men to lead Bluesfest to glory next year, renowned dirty-rock duo The Black Keys have announced a run of Australian headline and festival performance dates as part of their 2015 Turn Blue World Tour.

The tour, which kicks off with their Bluesfest performance at Byron Bay on Friday, April 3, takes its name from the pair’s recently released eighth studio full-length, Turn Blue. The album stepped out at #1 on both the ARIA Albums Chart and the Billboard 200, solidifying it as The Black Keys’ best-performing release to date, greatly aided by the acclaim sent in the direction of new singles Fever and Gotta Get Away.

The Australian leg of The Black Keys’ Turn Blue World Tour also takes in an appearance as the first artists to grace the first Rolling Green events, orchestrated by A Day On The Green promoters Roundhouse entertainment, as well as headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth before they wind down at Adelaide’s Entertainment Centre Theatre on Thursday, April 16.

The new album encapsulates the work ethic that has permeated the career of The Black Keys – otherwise known as Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach – and serves as a worthy follow-up to their widely acclaimed, multiple-Grammy-winning 2011 LP, El Camino.

“We are always trying to push ourselves when we make a record – not repeat our previous work but not abandon it either,” Carney said of the new work in a statement. “On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds. We’re excited for the world to hear Turn Blue.”

Tickets for Bluesfest are available now; Rolling Green shows will be up for sale from 9am on Thursday, September 11, with the remainder of the run going up for grabs from midday the same day.
