The Angels ProfileThe Angels are returning to the iconic Sydney pub venue, Selina’s, in early 2027 to wrap up their 50th anniversary tour celebrating their seminal hit, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again.
In a triple threat for Aussie rock music fans, The Angels will be joined by fellow legends Boom Crash Opera and Eurogliders when they take over Selina’s on Saturday, 20 February. The event, presented by Triple M, also features special guests Disgraceland.
Promoters promise wall-to-wall hits from the leading three bands, with The Angels behind classics like Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, Shadow Boxer, No Secrets, Take A Long Line, and more; Boom Crash Opera, the hitmakers behind The Best Thing, Dancing in the Storm, Onion Skin, and more; and Eurogliders, known for Heaven (Music Be There), among other beloved tunes.
Tickets to the newly announced show are now available – head to The Angels’ website for more details.
Along with their Selina’s show, The Angels recently added more tour dates for this year and into 2027 to meet demand for tickets to their Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again run – including a show as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January. Check out the newly added dates below.
Released in March 1976, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again was the band’s first single as The Angels. Originally an acoustic ensemble, the track marked a new, sharper, more rock-and-roll version of the band.
Written by Doc Neeson, Rick Brewster, and John Brewster, and produced by Vanda & Young, the song was initially recorded as a ballad before the band re-recorded it as a rock song. Upon its 1976 release, the single reached #58 on the Australian charts and stayed on the charts for 19 weeks.
In January 1988, a live version of the song was released to promote The Angels’ live album, Live Line. The live version features the iconic call-and-response, “No way, get fucked, fuck off,” whose origin is unknown but is believed to have started in blue-light discos in the early ‘80s. That version peaked at #11 on the Australian Singles Chart.
After the call-and-response became a part of their shows, the band’s late, iconic singer Doc Neeson remarked that Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again had “become the audience’s song” and it didn’t “belong to the band anymore.”
Last year, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again was voted #12 in the triple j Hottest 100 of Australian Songs.
