"It's about how ridiculous is it is for a band that isn't even a heavy band to win a category."

Brisbane metalcore outfit The Amity Affliction have continued to call out ARIA after the band lost the award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album this week.

Just a day after member Ahren Stringer requested that the group be excluded from further nominations in the "circle jerk awards", the singer has again taken to Twitter to dismiss suggestions that the band are simply upset they lost the category, which was awarded to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

"It's not about us losing, trust me we know after this many years we're always going to lose," Stringer tweeted.

"We hate the arias as much as they hate us…It's about how ridiculous is it is for a band that isn't even a heavy band to win a category."

Stringer’s comments have echoed a number of complaints from fans who have questioned why King Gizzard got the nod over the more-traditional hard rock/heavy metal acts nominated, including Parkway Drive, Hellions and Twelve Foot Ninja.

Fellow vocalist Joel Birch also chimed in on the subject on his own Twitter handle shortly after.

"We did care about the ARIA awards once upon a time," Birch tweeted.

"Then we were told how they work. Now we don't care, really."

The Amity Affliction's LP nominated in the category, This Could Be Heartbreak, marked the band's third straight #1 Aussie album following its release in August.

Previous winners of the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal ARIA include Northlane, DZ Deathrays, Karnivool and Front End Loader.
