The Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser has passed away aged 50 following a lengthy battle with colon cancer, as confirmed by the band.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration,” The Afghan Whigs said via Facebook.
“Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.”
The revered composer and guitarist joined band upon their reformation in 2014 after collaborating with vocalist Greg Dulli on numerous projects.

Rosser appeared on the band’s most recent album, In Spades, which came out last month. He also worked with the likes of Tim Heidecker, Joseph Arthur and more.
