Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers Drop New Single About Situationships

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, beloved indie rock darlings, are back with a vengeance, and, as usual, they have things to say.

The ARIA-winners, known for their celebrated debut album I Love You, have just released their new single ‘UNSCARRED,’ which unflinchingly explores the notion of the dreaded situationship, and the frustration of dating immature male musicians.

It is the second song (after the banger ‘BALCONY’) to have emerged from the four-piece’s five week session at The Grove Studios in so-called-New South Wales, during which they worked alongside London-based producer Catherine Marks (who also worked on boygenius' The Record, and Wolf Alice’s Foals). The track was mixed by Grammy Winner Oli Jacobs, whose tremendous credits include collaborating with Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. It was mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty (who has worked with Sabrina Carpenter and Lana Del Rey). Suffice it to say, ‘UNSCARRED’ has all of the ingredients and expert involvement to be an absolute fan favourite.

 Buoyed by cinematic instrumentation, the track sees the group step into a new, unapologetically indie-rock heavy era.

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers share, “‘UNSCARRED’ was written after hearing about a friend’s failed situationship with a male musician. It’s a feeling we can all relate to, when you think you’re on the same page as someone (who in reality can’t talk about their feelings and ends up making you feel insane). It was nice being able to write from her shoes without actually going through the treachery of dating this man.”

The release of this single follows the band’s triumphant return from supporting Pearl Jam at six arena shows in the United States. They also played headline shows in New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto. And they won’t be slowing down - they will be touring all across Australia in July.
