Taylor SwiftR&B artist Jesse Braham has filed a $42 million dollar lawsuit this week against pop superstar Taylor Swift and has accused the singer of ripping off lyrics from his song for her own hit track, Shake It Off.
As NY Daily News reports, Braham alleges that lyrics from the chorus of Swift's 2014 song, "Cause the players gonna play/And the haters gonna hate" have been taken from his 2013 single, Haters Gone Hate.
"Her hook is the same hook as mine," Braham said.
"If I didn't write the song 'Haters Gone Hate,' there wouldn't be a song called 'Shake It Off'."
Braham insists there is "no way" Swift wrote the lyrics independently and has cranked up the heat on the 25-year-old after being dismissed by her team when he requested compensation.
Braham has reportedly spoken with representatives from Sony and Swift's own record label, Big Machine, a number of times where he asked to be named as a writer on the song and even requested a selfie with the singer, but was denied on both counts.
The lawsuit comes just days after Swift launched her own case against a US radio host, who she accused of groping her while backstage at a concert in 2013.
