Taylor Swift Named Music’s Second Richest Woman… But Who Is First?

Taylor Swift is the second-richest self-made woman in America, according to Forbes’ list of the most successful women in music, entrepreneurship, and executives in the US.

Holding a $740 million net worth, Swift is second behind Rihanna, who doubles the I Knew You Were Trouble singer’s net worth ($1.4 billion). Rihanna approaches a $1.5 billion milestone not just with her music, but with her cosmetic line, Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna and Taylor Swift top the Forbes list of Richest Self Made Women in music in the US, and they’re followed by Madonna ($580 million), Beyoncé ($540 million), Celine Dion ($480 million), Dolly Parton with music and investments ($440 million), and Barbra Streisand ($430 million).

While Rihanna tops the list of women in music on Forbes’ round-up, she’s #20 in their overall list of Richest Self Made Women.

Last month, Swift revealed that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is coming on Friday, 7 July.

Sharing the news with the audience while on stage in Nashville, she proclaimed, "If you can direct your attention to that screen back there,” that flashed the release date on the screen. Pre-orders are currently live on the Taylor Swift Australian store.

"I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20,” Swift wrote on social media upon announcing the release. “The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it."

In February, Rihanna was the artist who delivered a wildly short 15 minutes of pure musical ecstasy at the Super Bowl. She joined a wealth of artists who have been before her, such as Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Shakira, and Jennifer Lopez. It was the first performance by the pop star in seven years. 

Making a grand entrance on a floating disk in the middle of the field, Rihanna jumped straight into her hit Bitch Better Have My Money, and it felt like the music icon had never left. 

Racing through her catalogue of bangers, she performed mashed-up hits of Where Have You Been, Only Girl (In The World), We Found Love, and Rude Boy, before embarking on her collaboration with Drake Work – sans the rapper. Joining her excellent backup dancers, Rihanna jumped into Wild Thoughts and Pour It Up before tackling her Kanye West collaboration All Of The Lights.

Finishing the show with Run This Town, Umbrella and Diamonds, it's safe to say Rihanna gave a dazzling performance that left music lovers wanting more.
