Tash Sultana has announced that they have a new EP on the way.

Return To The Roots, scheduled for release on Friday, 30 May, has been described as a “raw, unfiltered” dive into the Australian musician’s identity and artistry.

Revealing the six-song tracklist today, Tash surprises fans by locking in a collaboration with the beloved Canadian act City And Colour, with the pair effortlessly blending their distinct styles.

Ain’t It Kinda Funny is one of the oldest songs in Tash’s catalogue, with the artist citing inspirations such as Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, and the song’s eventual collaborator, City And Colour. The track was born when the singer-songwriter recently returned to Australia. Tash reached out, the pair connected, and the song fell into place.

Tash commented in a press release, “The song was meant for us. We instantly understood each other, and it was a completely natural fit.”

The Return To The Roots EP features fan favourites Kiss The Sky and Milk & Honey, as well as the recent single Hold On, which Tash dedicated to their wife and anyone struggling within the medical system.

“My partner went through hell because of medical malpractice,” Tash said. “A tumour left undetected. Surgery on the wrong thing. A second operation. Twice the recovery time. And we still don’t have answers. If you’ve ever been failed by the system—misdiagnosed, ignored, or left without answers—this song is for you.”

The Return To The Roots EP is available to pre-order/pre-save here.

This June, Tash will embark on a massive tour of the US in support of Return To The Roots with special guests Lime Cordiale. Their show at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre sold out in minutes.

Tash’s most recent album, Terra Firma, arrived in 2021 and became their first to top the Aussie charts. In 2023, they released the Sugar EP, which featured singles such as James Dean, New York, and Bitter Lovers – the latter a collaboration with BJ The Chicago Kid.
