The rising muso has nabbed a rare opportunity concurrent with the release of his debut EP
If you needed proof that there's still life in the old adage about it pouring when it rains, Sydney-based electronic wunderkind GRMM might be able to help you out.
Not only is the up-and-coming beatsmith preparing for the release of his debut EP, Die Young, tomorrow, 2 October, but he's also been tapped by acclaimed UK troupe Rudimental to take on national support duties for their impending Aussie headline shows this November and December.
The 24-year-old has accrued a significant amount of notoriety in an astonishingly short time, grabbing the attention of electro heavyweight Diplo with his track What You Need, consequently being played by the renowned DJ on his BBC Radio 1 program to millions of ears. From there, GRMM (or Benn Markos to his mum) collaborated with New York vocalist Father Dude to create Electrify — which swiftly landed high rotation on triple j as 2014's 49th-most-played track on the station, and climbed to #1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart, thanks in no small part to half-a-million spins on SoundCloud — as well as follow-up team-up Level Up.
Throw in a few acclaimed edits for the likes of The Preatures, Yolanda Be Cool and UK act Gorgon City, and it's not hard to see that the trajectory on which GRMM has now found himself is one of a solidly upwards bent, with no downturn in conceivable sight.
