Applications to play the showcase component of the 2014 South By Southwest event in Austin, Texas open in less than three weeks, event organisers confirmed this morning, meaning bands can get the application process out of the way earlier than ever.
Applications for the event will now open on Tuesday 9 July through their Sonicbids platform and will cost $33 for those who get in early. If your application is submitted after Saturday 7 September, that price will be raised to $45 per application.
The earlier submission time has been set “in an effort to ensure thoroughly reviewed submissions and inform applicants of their status sooner”, which is definitely good news for bands. But it also comes with an earlier cut-off date, meaning you will have to have your application in before Friday 11 October to be considered for an invitation to the event.
