Surry Hills Festival's Callout For Artists

9 July 2012 | 1:15 pm | Scott Fitzsimons

Artists, performers and other creatives, your time is now.

The annual Surry Hills Festival is looking for installation artists, performers and other creatives who want to showcase their work at the upcoming event.

The community festival, which raises money for the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Festival, is being run by The Festival Company, the people behind Peats Ridge, for the first time this year. The Festival Company's Arts & Culture Manager Vic Johnstone said, “The Surry Hills Festival will feature a much bigger arts element this year. We're looking for exciting, interactive and engaging artists to give their time to help create the eclectic festival experience that the community comes for.

Surry Hills Festival is the major fundraiser for the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre and the money raised for the SHNC by the festival goes directly back to the local Surry Hills community.” All ideas are welcome, including creative workshops for the Kids' Retreat. To apply, head to surryhillsfestival.com.

The festival takes place Saturday 27 October at Prince Alfred Park.
