"I'm not used to seeing Aboriginals sing rap."

More Mau Power More Mau Power

In a move as unsurprising as it is ridiculous, Pauline Hanson has unleashed a nonsensical rant against the Indigenous performers at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

Speaking with Sky News about Wednesday’s Gold Coast event, Hanson labelled the 20-minute Indigenous segment "absolutely disgusting”, hitting out at Torres Strait hip hop pioneer Mau Power and celebrated didgeridoo player William Barton.

"Here we had an Aboriginal who was doing a rap song, which I couldn't understand," Hanson said.

"I'm not used to seeing Aboriginals sing rap, although, you know, fair enough."

She also claimed that “watching didgeridoos” wasn’t what the majority of Australians wanted to see.

"There was a lot of aspects of our country that should have been in the opening ceremony of the games,” she said.

Hanson also stated she has “nothing against the Aboriginals” and claimed to be indigenous herself.

Power or Barton are yet to respond to the comments.
