The ridiculously prolific Ty Segall has waited eight months to release his first LP of 2013 and some fans of his past work will be a little surprised at the direction he has taken with Sleeper. It's a fair bit darker and more restrained than previous releases, though that's not to say it's a depressing album. Thankfully, Segall has always been a great songwriter – not a mere fad clinging garage hipster – so his shift into this style of music is pulled off with aplomb.
