Visionary English musician, producer and driving force behind the prog rock and metal movement, Steven Wilson has just announced a huge three-date October Australian tour set to showcase the frontman and founder of Porcupine Tree's latest solo record plus some selections from previous releases.

In a live show jam-packed with beautiful visual effects and a captivating aural soundscape that will leave you quivering, Wilson will primarily perform material from his much acclaimed new release, The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) with a six-piece band – including himself – delivering the isolated instruments in four channel (or quadraphonic) surround sound, a feat that hasn't been attempted since Pink Floyd's heyday.

Here's a short taste of what fans can expect in early October.

Outside of Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson brags a highly-coveted career performing with Blackfield, Bass Communion and No-Man, alongside Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth, Storm Corrosion. Additionally, with a CV filled with producing and mixing gigs with Opeth, OSI, Fish, Orphaned Land and a surround remix of King Crimson's 8 records, to name a few, Wilson remains a highly respected figure in the music industry.

His tour will feature new and older material, including choice selections from Wilson's previous albums Grace For Drowning and Insurgents, played by lead guitarist Guthrie Govan, Adam Holzman on keys, Theo Travis on flute and sax, bass guitarist Nick Beggs and drummer Chad Wackerman.

“I'm writing very much with a specific group of musicians in mind, now that I know what they're capable of! It's forced me to think about writing music that is beyond me as a musician. I couldn't play this music myself but I can think it! One of the great rewards of being a musician is to challenge yourself. No one wants to be treading water. You want to be constantly evolving,”
Wilson said.
