There has been plenty of news come from legendary songwriter Steve Earle's opening keynote speech at this year's BIGSOUND, and now you can stream the whole thing online.

Earle was in fine form, admitting that his memoirs were being written so he could pay for his autistic son's medical treatments and delving into the 'cult' of Townes Van Zandt that left such a mark on his early years – and subsequently his career as an artist.

In an insightful discussion, it becomes evident that Earle is increasingly concerned about money – particularly about leaving his family with unpaid debts.

“I've never done anything for money before, but I'm doing a few things now,” he said, “I don't think I'm going to hell for it.”
