Stars To Attend Special 'Alien' Screening At Astor Theatre

27 May 2014 | 12:20 pm | Staff Writer

Showing will be preceded by Oz Comic-Con-curated Q&A

Oz Comic-Con is collaborating with St Kilda's Astor Theatre to give Melburnians an opportunity to get up close and personal with members of the doomed crew of the Nostromo at a special screening of Ridley Scott's seminal horror sci-fi Alien at 7.30pm on Friday, July 4.

Actors Tom Skerritt (Captain Dallas) and Veronica Cartwright (Navigator Lambert; also known for being injured by seagulls at her birthday party in The Birds and several other memorable roles), who will already be in town to appear across the two days of Oz Comic-Con festivities planned for the city, will be in attendance at the Director's Cut screening, preceding it with a Q&A session with the audience, so it'll be a prime opportunity to get all those burning queries off your chest, like, “What's it like to be fake-mauled to death by a guy in an alien suit smeared in lubricant?”

Tickets to the Alien showing cost $28, and are available directly from the Astor website.

Oz Comic-Con Melbourne runs from July 5-6, and features guests including MacGyver and Stargate SG-1 star Richard Dean Anderson, Game Of Thrones' gentle grooving giant Kristian Nairn and Daniel Portman (Podrick), former Doctor Who companion Arthur Darvill, the X-Men films' Iceman, Shawn Ashmore, his brother Aaron (Veronica Mars, Smallville), and plenty of other cult personalities from across the film, live and animated TV, and comics mediums.
