Squeeze Announce 2027 Australian Tour Dates

It’s been a long time between drinks for Australian fans of UK outfit Squeeze, but after close to a decade, the group will be making their long-awaited return to local shores.

Setting their sights to 2027, Squeeze will be visiting Australia in April of next year for a national run of tour dates. Kicking off at Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall, the veteran group will visit Sydney's Enmore Theatre, The Palais in Melbourne, The Gov in Adelaide, and wrapping it up with a show at Perth's Astor Theatre.

The tour takes place in celebration of their 16th studio album, Trixies, which arrived in April, and is composed of material initially written by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford when they were 16 and 19, respectively.

While the original songs were hampered by vision which exceeded the capabilities of their authors, rediscovering those original songs and later revisiting them 53 years later results in an album which is closer to what Tilbrook and Difford had envisioned all those decades ago – and one complemented by years of experience both on and off the stage.

“We are so excited to be coming back to Australia,” Tilbrook said in a statement. “We have never sounded better and it feels special to be bringing this new show to all our Australian fans.

“It’s going to be amazing to show off songs from our new album Trixies and, of course, all the hits and some surprises. Looking forward to getting down there in April 2027.”

Originally formed in 1974, the original iteration of Squeeze lasted for just under a decade before the band dissolved in 1982, with Tilbrook and Difford continuing as a duo.

Australian fans got a chance to catch them live in 1980, but had to wait until 1993 for a return, with the group having reconvened in 1985, and continuing on until 1999.

A second reunion would take place in 2007, with only Tilbrook and Difford remaining as the band’s sole founding members. This reunion would also result in their long-awaited return to Australia, with Squeeze visiting the country back in 2018 off the back of their The Knowledge album, released the year prior.

Tickets to Squeeze’s upcoming Australian tour go on sale from 10am on Friday, July 31st, with an early bird presale launching 48 hours earlier.
