Just days away from the official announcement for this year's Splendour In The Grass, the line-up has apparently leaked via a tour poster reportedly on Reddit.
As Music Feeds notes, the legit-looking poster names A-list acts such as The Cure, Sigur Ros, Lana Del Ray and Two Door Cinema Club, with acts like The Cure, Beck and Crystal Castles billed to play their only Australian shows at the three-day festival.
The Australian contingent of the festival appears to be made up of bands like Birds Of Tokyo, You Am I, The Drones, City Calm Down and more.
However, closer inspection does yield some cracks in the poster's claims — for example, it lists UK indie darlings Catfish & The Bottlemen among the roster, despite the band being tied up in a European tour during the course of Splendour. While it's arguably feasible that they'd throw in a detour to engage in a whirlwind round-world trip for the festival following their performance in Ordes, Spain, on 17 July, in order to make it back to Sheffield in time for their gig on Sunday 24 July, it's just not very likely.
It's a similar story for, for example, Sigur Ros, who are locked in for a European tour throughout June and July that, yes, drops them at Japan's Fuji Rock Festival on 24 July, but also keeps them sufficiently busy in the lead-up even without a sojourn to Australia thrown into the mix. (UPDATE, 13/04/16: Well, shut our mouths — Sigur Ros are indeed on the 2016 line-up! This was still fake, though.)
So, while it's highly probable that we'll be seeing at least some of these names on the final line-up come Wednesday, if Catfish & The Bottlemen aren't a lock — for a start — then this may very well not be the official poster for which we've been waiting.
Splendour In The Grass takes over Byron Bay every year in late July — this year it falls from Friday, 22 July to Sunday, 24 July.
Check out the poster below, and keep your eyes peeled for the official announcement on Wednesday.
