Series won't be renewed for 2015

The ABC's music panel TV quiz show Spicks & Specks will not be returning in 2015 after its comeback series failed to impress viewers.

Ella Hooper, Josh Earl and Adam Richard were brought in as the team to replace Myf Warhurst, Adam Hills and Alan Brough for the reboot in 2014, but ratings have been disappointing.

Originally scheduled for 26 episodes, TV Tonight have reported that the show will be taken off air after its 20th episode, with the final six to be slated later this year.

“Josh, Ella and Adam did a terrific job of breathing new life into Spicks & Specks,” said ABC1 Channel Controller Brendan Dahill.

“We're very proud of their efforts. We believe this year's Spicks was every bit as entertaining as its long-running predecessor, but we sadly accept that it hasn't resonated with viewers to the degree we had hoped.”

Spicks & Specks has been leading into Chris Lilley's Jonah From Tonga, which has also been performing disappointingly.
