Soundwave organisers have announced the addition of three new bands to the 2011 line-up after original acts A Skylit Drive and Alesana were forced to pull out respectively.
Consequently, Soundwave have announced that Polar Bear Club and Blessthefall will replace the two aforementioned bands. In addition, UK based outfit This Town Needs Guns has also joined the festival bill.
Soundwave posted the following update on their forum this evening:
There have been 3 changes made to the SW2011 line-up:
1. Alesana have regretfully had to pull out of their international touring commitments for the first half of 2011.
The band have just had a rather difficult change of labels and we are happy to announce that they have found a new home with the good people at Epitaph. However, part of their exit from their last label involved an additional U.S tour with ETF in support of their last record to help their old label recoup costs.
We understand the circumstances, appreciate the fact that the band were still willing to fulfil their Australian obligations despite the massive setback it would have caused their career. We look forward to having them back with a brand new album mid-year.
Alesana have been replaced by Polar Bear Club.
2. A Skylit Drive have pulled out of SW2011 to open for Underoath in The U.S. No one from the band, or any of their representatives have said the actual words “we couldn’t care less about Australia”; which I guess is nice of them.
A Skylit Drive have been replaced by Blessthefall.
3. And last but not least, we are pleased to announce the addition of one of Britain’s best kept secrets, This Town Needs Guns. There is a thread for the band on SW Forum. Go check them out!
In typically honest form, Soundwave organiser AJ Maddah did not mince words when it came to A Skylit Drive’s reasoning for leaving the Soundwave line-up, when he posted on Twitter:
“A SKYLIT DRIVE have pulled out with a piss-weak eaxcuse (sic) and have been replaced by BLESSTHEFALL.”
