Legendary soul singer Sharon Jones has passed away aged 60 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
A post on Jones’ website confirmed the news saying she was “surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings.”
“We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones has passed away after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer,” the statement read.
“Thank you for your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.”

The Dap Kings bandleader revealed her diagnoses in 2013, and after beating it, the cancer returned in 2015, the same year Jones released Miss Sharon Jones!, a film detailing her battle with cancer and return to music.
Fans are being urged to make donations to either The Lustgarten Foundation, James Brown Family Foundation or Little Kids Rock in lieu of flowers.
