Sony Music have launched a new dance imprint Basik Rkrds that will focus on a specific 'big room house' sound.
The label will be run by Jon Hanlon, who was appointed the label's Director of Electronic Dance Music in May. Starting from scratch in terms of signing artists, Sony's Electronic Music Content Manager Chris White told theMusic.com.au today that they will be focusing on the one sound to offer constantly quality tracks in that genre.
They intend to sign artists, both established and emerging, release-by-release and license them to partners around the world.
The imprint's first release is Samual James' Mega, which will be released Friday 18 September
