Someone Played Peking Duk Instead Of The Australian National Anthem At The Netball

'We are absolutely girt by happiness rn.'

More Peking Duk Peking Duk Profile

They had one job.

Fans and players were waiting to hear the Australian national anthem before this past weekend's netball match between Australia and New Zealand, but instead heard the chorus of Peking Duk's latest track, Fire.

Cue the awkwardness.

Laughter erupted throughout the arena as the camera panned across the Australian Diamonds team who laughed off the obvious stuff-up before the anthem eventually played.

The blunder even caught the attention of Peking Duk, who tweeted, "Surprised but extremely honoured to have our song Fire be the new national anthem of Australia. we are absolutely girt by happiness rn".

The Diamonds went on to win the match 60-55, so it was a happy ending in the end. Let's hope whoever was in charge of the sound also saw the funny side.
