And it's actually kind of listenable

More Aphex Twin More Aphex Twin

North Carolina-based artist David Rees has branched out from the hotly competitive world of artisanal pencil-sharpening (really) to dabble in the realm of mash-up albums, releasing Aphex Swift — a fusion of works from pop startlet Taylor Swift and electronic freakshow Aphex Twin — on his SoundCloud account at the weekend.

To be totally honest, Aphex Swift isn't unanimously strong or wholly developed the way that contemporary Neil Cicierega's Mouth Silence is — not all the mash-ups make sense or work all that well, with opening cut T4ouble and later effort Everything Has Cornmouthed among the less-solid smashes on offer — but there are some genuinely triumphant results, most notably on Starlightlicker, Twengerbibbytwo and inarguable standouts You Belong With Avril and Why You Gotta Be So Flim.

Have a listen to those highlights below, or check out the full set at your leisure.

Swift has just released new full-length 1989, with the country singer-turned-popstar swinging by BBC Radio recently to offer up a sublime rendition of Vance Joy's Riptide. Aphex Twin released sixth studio full-length Syro in September, following a protracted deep-web-based announcement process.
