Prepare to welcome back some repressed memories

Third Eye Blind, Nine Inch Nails, Hanson and, uh, the theme from Friends (by The Rembrandts) were all pretty huge in the '90s, and now bafflingly talented mash-up artist and online comedian Neil Cicierega has brought them and more all truly into the weird, weird realm of the 2010s with the follow-up album to his acclaimed, insane Mouth Sounds LP — Mouth Silence.

Uploaded to his personal Soundcloud page yesterday, which features other excellent mixes such as his Smash Mouth/Modest Mouse mash-up Modest Mouth, the new 55-minute album continues Cicierega's penchant for pairing up popular hits of days gone by to "oh-wow-that-shouldn't-work-but-it-really-does" proportions, including such inspired choices as I've Seen All Good People (Yes)/Semi-Charmed Life (TEB), Love Rollercoaster (The Ohio Players)/Closer (NIN), MMMBop (Hanson)/Foxy Lady (Jimi Hendrix), Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (Elton John)/Sexual Healing (Marvin Gaye), his Elton John/System Of A Down mash-up Crocodile Chop, Love Shack (The B52s)/the theme from Psycho, and the incredibly apt duo of REM's It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) and Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire.

It's a bit of a mission to get through, both in terms of time commitment and the aural challenges thrown up from the depths of Cicierega's eclectic mind, but holy damn, it's worth it.
