Yeah. A FREAKIN' volcano.

More Deftones More Deftones

US heavyweights Deftones have been announced on the massive bill for Iceland's upcoming Secret Solstice festival but the biggest talking point from the line-up announcement is the news that frontman Chino Moreno will make history when he performs a separate solo set inside a volcano — yeah, a VOLCANO.

On 18 June, Moreno will play an exclusive acoustic set inside Iceland’s Thrihnuagigur volcano in front of just 20 ticket holders who will be lowered 400 feet inside the earth, where the performance will be held inside the volcano’s dormant magma chamber.

Though there have been a number of gigs held on top of a volcano in the past, the upcoming event will mark the first time anyone has played inside one.

Icelandic artist Snorri Helgason will open for Moreno for the history-making gig.

For those concerned about the safety of everyone set to enter the volcano, geologists have advised that the last time the Thrihnuagigur erupted was around 4000 years ago. So, there's that.
