Australian music icons Sneaky Sound System have returned to our radars today with the hypnotic Shiver, the duo’s first single without a collaborative partner in over five years. Shiver also marks the first bit of music from Sneaky Sound System since 2023.
Sneaky Sound System single-handedly crafted the recipe for infectious club bangers, spending a good chunk of the noughties topping charts with tracks like UFO, Pictures and I Love It from their self-titled debut album in 2006. Recently, the dance outfit have collaborated with esteemed electronic legends like Norman Doray, Tiesto and John Dahlback, who was the collaborator on their last single Fire Is Burning.
Coming back to their roots, Sneaky Sound System’s Connie Mitchell and Angus McDonald created Shiver together in their Bondi home studio.
“We wrote this track a while ago, but it’s only now that it feels like the right time to release it,” said Angus. “Shiver is about that electrifying feeling when love takes over,” said Connie. “We wanted it to be euphoric and impossible to resist.”
With Angus’ bumpy electronic production and Connie’s iconic vocals, Shiver reignites the flames that sparked the Sneaky Sound System wildfire during their prime. The group have always been a defining force in Australian dance music, and arrives at a time where the hunger for early 2000s nostalgia is in high demand, As such, Shiver plays out as a reminder of who Sneaky Sound System are and the momentous mark they’ve made on Australian dance music history.
