Live music may not return to Sydney's Sly Fox Hotel when it re-opens.
The Enmore venue closed in January this year following ongoing licensing issues and has now been sold to publican Ged Dore for $10.75 million. Dore also owns the Henson Park Hotel and Salisbury Hotel.
According to realestate.com.au, the venue may no longer run as a nightclub with the report suggesting that Dore is considering changing the business model to a "a low-energy community focused pub operation".
HTL Property representative Sam Handy has said that, “Our vendor’s brief was to secure him a quality tenant which would be able to build a sustainable business model in concert with both the local community, and the framework required by council".
“Given Ged’s experience with community based hospitality activations, we feel satisfied that we’ve delivered upon the required brief.”
Prior to its closure in January, the venue had previously operated as The Sly Fox Hotel and was relaunched in August 2015 as SLYFOX. It regularly hosted both live music performances and club nights.
In November 2019, the previous owners called for support from the local community to help save the venue. Read the story here.
