They’re the band that just can’t stop touring, and as Slowly Slowly put one batch of shows in the rear view, they’ve announced another – this time hitting up regional venues.
Launching in August, the ten-date tour will see the group kicking things off in Jindabyne before visiting visiting throughout the ACT, New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania over the coming month.
Joining the group on the tour will be Bakers Eddy (who kick off the tour for the dates in Jindabyne, Canberra, and Albury), while Teenage Joans will take over proceedings for the rest of the shows.
“Touring regionally in Australia is as good as it gets. We can’t wait for these shows,” explains frontman Ben Stewart. “We have been inundated with requests, even with people that attended the capital city shows – they want sweaty club shows in their hometowns and we couldn’t be keener.”
The dates come only months after the group wrapped up their latest tour, this time in support of their most recent studio album, Forgiving Spree. Their fifth album, the record became their consecutive release to chart within the ARIA top ten.
“Forgiving Spree is a feeling of comfortability within the [Slowly Slowly] project,” Stewart told The Music earlier this year. “Through past records, every time we'd step out of the box that we built for ourselves with the previous record, I often felt like there's so much trepidation, and having those neurotic episodes of having to envision what this project was, how it was changing, and the different chapters as it went.

“I feel like now I've almost forged that path to just follow my nose and create music, regardless of genre, because we've built a narrative around the band as opposed to like around a sub genre,” he adds.
“It's not like, ‘Oh, this is an emo band, a pop punk band, a rock band, or an indie band’, it’s become ‘We are Slowly Slowly and the people that listen to us understand that universe that we've built inch by inch’.”
