Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson has found a way to give new life to his old mask. The industrious metal star has transformed his recently retired We Are Not Your Kind era mask into an animatronic puppet that sings along to Slipknot songs.

Wilson gave his creepy creation a public debut via Instagram, promptly going viral in the metal corners of the internet.

Wilson, who is expecting a baby with partner Kelly Osbourne was one of three Slipknot members to debut new masks in the video for Slipknot's new single The Dying Song (Time To Sing). The lead single from the Iowan metal icons' forthcoming seventh full-length record The End, So Far, The Dying Song (Time To Sing) arrived accompanied by a video directed by Slipknot member M.Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, which you can see below.

Talking about the upcoming record Crahan offers “New Music, new art, and new beginnings. Get ready for the end.”

Produced collaboratively by Joe Baressi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Soundgarden, Avenged Sevenfold, Parkway Drive) and Slipknot, The End, So Far is the follow-up to Slipknot’s 2019 We Are Not Your Kind which marked the band’s third consecutive #1 on the ARIA album chart. The End, So Far will arrive via Roadrunner Records on September 20. The End, So Far will feature the previous single The Chapeltown Rag.

Wilson's animatronic puppet is the latest in a long list of examples of Slipknot embracing technology, with the unveiling of the mask puppet and announcement of the album coming a few months after the band launched an innovative partnership with The Sandbox, a leading gaming virtual world, to bring their curated festival Knotfest into the metaverse.

As a result of that collaboration, the band launched KNOTVERSE, a Web3 home for Slipknot/Knotfest metaverse experiences and concerts. The collaboration brings together innovators in their respective fields to create a one-of-a-kind meeting place for heavy music culture. KNOTVERSE will host Web3 experiences curated by Knotfest and Slipknot - specifically for the culture.
