We can expect a debut album sometime in 2013

The primary drummer for Slipknot Joey Jordison has a new moniker, Scar The Martyr - with a debut release slated for later this year.

The new name brings forth a reinvented sound, more synthesisers, heavy guitars layered with Jordison's epic drumming skill for a truly immersive sound. The band is made up of Jordison and vocalist Henry Derek, who both wrote the album, with Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) on keyboards, Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour) on guitar duites.

On the project, Jordison had this to say:

“I wasn't worried about flash or persona... It's all about writing a good solid song. I'm writing music that people can grasp and hold on to...something that resonates. If you don't have that, then you have nothing."

With a career that includes eleven platinum and forty gold records, a Grammy and being apart of one of the most popular heavy metal bands of the past two decades, there's no doubt big things could be on the cards for Jordison's Scar The Martyr.

The album will be released via Roadrunner Records.
