"SORRY but we didn't steal this."
Following allegations from Casey Dienel (White Hinterland) that Justin Bieber ripped off one of her melodies for the hook of mega hit Sorry, co-writer Skrillex has released a video that explains how they came up with the vocal line, stating “we didn't steal this”.
Yesterday Dienel took to Facebook to speak out about the similarities between Sorry and her 2014 single Ring The Bell, revealing she was suing the writers of the 2015 track – which includes Bieber and Skrillex.
Skillrex has now posted a video on Twitter where he explains where the hook came from by bringing up a demo from one of the writing sessions with singer Julia Michaels and isolating the vocals.

Dienel said the "unique characteristics of the female vocal riff" from her song was identical to Sorry and "both songs feature keyboard synthesizers, samples, synth bass, drums, and percussion".

The US singer also claims she contacted Bieber in December of last year but her efforts to bring the situation to light were ignored.
