Silversun Pickups Announce DJ Sets & Special Events Alongside 2026 Australian Tour

Silversun Pickups will bring the DJ sets and special events to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland.

Silversun Pickups’ first Australian tour in 14 years has just gotten sweeter, with the band announcing a run of DJ sets and special events to take place between their tour dates.

The American indie rockers return to Australia on Tuesday (21 July), with their long-awaited Tenterhooks tour commencing in Perth. Following their Perth show, they’ll perform in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney before heading to New Zealand and playing in Auckland.

This morning, Silversun Pickups added more excitement to their tour. “Friends in Australia & New Zealand! We have a number of DJ sets and special events surrounding our headline shows,” the band wrote on social media, adding that, best of all, each event is free.

The DJ sets and special events take place at Perth’s The Bird tonight, followed by Brisbane’s The Brightside on Thursday, 23 July, Melbourne’s Punters Club on Monday, 27 July, and Auckland’s Whammy Bar on Thursday, 30 July.

For the Melbourne event, Silversun Pickups will commemorate the 20th anniversary of their beloved second album, Carnavas, and, from 6 pm, the band will participate in a Q&A moderated by Triple R’s Tristen Harris and perform an acoustic set. From 8 pm, they’ll play a DJ set.

After breaking through with their 2006 debut album Carnavas, Silversun Pickups scored a Best New Artist nomination at the 2010 Grammys with follow-up Swoon.

The band’s following album, Neck Of The Woods, which they toured Down Under, scored favourable reviews and was followed up with Better Nature and Widow’s Weeds in 2015 and 2019, respectively, both of which Aussie fans hoped would see them return.

Their sixth album, Physical Thrills, was released in 2022, followed by their seventh and most recent album, Tenterhooks, which was released earlier this year.

Discussing the band’s long-awaited return to Australia, lead vocalist Brian Aubert told The Music in a recent interview, “The first time we were in Australia, we were just like, ‘Okay, we’ll soak it in. Let’s go do everything we can. Let’s go to take pictures with the koalas in Brisbane, because we’re probably never going to be allowed to come back here again,’ right?”

He continued, “The second time we came back there, we went, ‘Okay, I can’t believe we’re here again. Let’s go take more pictures with those koalas.’ And the third time was the same! And now it just feels… We’re really excited.

“It’s a loud world out there, and we’ve been doing this for quite some time. I don’t know what we did to be able to keep this sort of attention, but we’ll take it.”
