A very, very nice looking line up has been put together for the inaugural US Laneway event.
The ambitious move into the North American market has well and truly begun for the St Jerome's Laneway Festival and today they announce the line up of acts that will make up their first event set to take place in Detroit on Saturday 14 September.
Sigur Ros, The National, Alunageorge, Charli XCX, Chet Faker, Chvrches, Deerhunter, The Dismemberment Plan, Flume, Frightened Rabbit, Haerts, Icona Pop, My Brightest Diamond, Phosphorescent, Run The Jewels (El-P + Killer Mike), Savages, Solange, Warpaint, Washed Out, Youth Lagoon
As far as what that means for Australian audiences, there's little more than speculation that can be brought into play here.
In an interview with the Herald Sun a couple of weeks ago, The National frontman Matt Berninger said that the band would return to Australia in 2014 to headline a festival; today's announcement would have to put Laneway at the top of the list if you were to wager on possibilities.

CHVRCHES making their first trip to Australia at Splendour time this year but not actually getting a run on the festival bill may have something to do with the act being primed for a bigger debut Aussie festival showing at Laneway 2014.
With their Silence Yourself debut released just over a week ago and picking up critical acclaim almost entirely across the board, Savages will no doubt be one of the most hunted acts for future Aussie festivals and it looks as if Laneway has a head start.
It has been a couple of years since Warpaint, who have an Australian connection through drummer Stellar Mozgawa, were last here. Though given they've not released a new record since then, it's possible we might need to wait a little longer to see them again.
